#Blogtober16 Day 27 Place I Would Most Like To Visit
Another day and another challenge. Today is #Blogtober16 Day 27 Place I Would Most Like To Visit. This challenge seem simple on the face of it but as soon as I start writing I start thinking of all the places I would love to visit.
Some are for nostalgia and so are returning to places I have visited and loved. Athens, Vouliagmeni and Kithera. Others are wonderful beaches of the Bahamas or Virgin Islands. Maybe somewhere historical such as Egypt. Then there are the wonders of the world like the Great Barrier Reef, Easter Island or The Galapagos Islands.
One place has always been on my list from the day I saw a picture and that is Petra in Jordan. I have only one regret in life and that is I had the opportunity to go to Jordan when it was so much safer to visit.
Grandad and I were on a bus from Athens to Istanbul. We were young, poor and foolish. Greece was at war with Turkey over Cyprus and the border crossing was tense to say the least. We met a Jordanian. He was generous, friendly and invited us to Jordan. He was going home and had a business there. We declined as we were going to Istanbul (see how foolish we were!). We had no plans, little money and were free to go were we liked for as long as we liked.
Almost as soon as I saw the bus leave, with the Jordanian that we had made friends with, I wished we had gone. We lost the paper with his name and address so there was no way of visiting.
My Place I Would Most Like To Visit is Jordan. Particularly the rose city of Petra.
Is there somewhere you would love to visit?
