There's nothing I like more than meeting up with friends for a night out. I love going to the New Theatre in Cardiff but I had never been to see a musical so when I was invited* to see The Wedding Singer, a romantic comedy, with a group of local mummy bloggers, I jumped at the chance. I had not seen the film The Wedding Singer but I had heard of it and love 80s music so it was a perfect opportunity for a mummies night out.

#MySundayPhoto Number 9
#MySundayPhoto Number 9
This week I have been really rubbish at taking photos but we did pop out on Friday as the sun was shining and the views were good. We like to go to a place between Cardiff and Newport, called Pound Hill where we can look over the Bristol Channel to Brean Down in Somerset. It was still a little misty but Somerset can be seen.

Slimming World Weigh In #7
Slimming World Weigh In #7
Seven weeks already and did I hit my one stone target? Well, I was very good all week except for Friday and talk about breaking a diet! I knew it was going to be difficult as I was meeting friends I hadn't seen for ages and it wasn't the food, I was very good with the food except for a few chips. No, it was the wine, the prosecco and the gin. It was one of those nights.
Slimming World Pork Kebab with Tzatziki - Recipe
Slimming World Pork Kebab with Tzatziki
I love tzatziki. I make it quite often, it always reminds me of Greece. Traditionally it is used as a dip, eaten with crudités, bread or grilled meat. In Athens next to the meat market there was, maybe still is, the best souvlaki place. Wooden sticks with cubes of meat, lamb or goat I guessed, dipped into lemon and oregano and served with chunks of rustic bread that I have never found outside Greece. This is my homage to that.

Our Weekly Journal 20th Feb 2017
It's been a very strange week. We have hardly stepped outside the door for a few reasons. The weather was cold and wet and although this is never an excuse to keep us in Bear has had a horrible cold. I have been feeling under the weather with a dizzy spell on Monday that actually made me sick. I had labrynthitis many, many years ago and occasionally when I catch a virus it makes me dizzy too. I have never been sick with it though.
We did get to the shops and Bear was better on Wednesday so we went to Tots, only for him to be poorly again on Thursday.

#MySundayPhoto Number 8
This week we have been stuck indoors a lot. Bear has been full of cold so I have been looking at things we can do that do not involve;
a) water
b) paint
c) me running around chasing him
We had been posting playing cards through a hole in the side of the nappy box and Bear put it on his head. He couldn't see so I roughly cut a big hole in it.
"Are you a robot?" I asked
"No, a knight"
Isn't a toddlers imagination amazing?

Thoughts On Saturday - FLOTUS Melania Trump
Thoughts On Saturday - FLOTUS Melania Trump
POTUS and FLOTUS are acronyms that until recently I had not heard of. We have heard a bit too much about POTUS (President Of The United States) but what about FLOTUS? First Lady Of The United States. My interest was aroused when I read on social media that White House tours have not restarted after the inauguration of President Trump. It was explained that this is due to the First Lady, Melania Trump, not appointing the household staff.Friday, 17 February 2017

Slimming World #6 Weigh In
Slimming World #6 Weigh In
This week I have been very good. I went to the theatre on Saturday and we had lunch out first. As there was International Rugby in Cardiff the menus were fast food and mostly burgers. I chose grilled chicken in a bun and had extra salad instead of chips. I was a little bit naughty in that I took my own wholemeal bread roll and swapped it for the Brioche roll provided. I wouldn't recommend doing this but it was very busy and I wasn't depriving the restaurant of any revenue. I think I probably had very few Syns and only drank soda water with lemon.
Slimming World Pizza Chicken - Recipe
Slimming World Pizza Chicken
OK so it's not pizza, it's chicken breast with pizza topping but is so easy and very delicious. We will definitely be having this again. We served it wth roast vegetables and cous cous.
Serves 2
Prep Time 15 mins Cooking Time 20 mins
Syn Free
Ingredients
2 Free Range Chicken Breasts
1 small red onion thinly sliced,
1/2 red pepper
1/2 yellow pepper
Tomato puree
Half tsp dried oregano
Fresh chopped Basil or Oregano to garnish
Fry Light
Method
Pre heat oven to 200C/180C fanButterfly each chicken breast by placing your hand flat on top of the chicken and slicing each horizontally almost completely through. It is easiest to start from the thicker end. Open out the breast and lay flat. Cover with cling film and bash with a rolling pin to make the thickness even.

Butterfly chicken, cut and pressed open. |
Cover a baking tray with non-stick baking paper and spray with Fry Light.
Place the chicken breasts on the paper and spread tomato puree on top. Sprinkle with the dried oregano.
Cover the chicken with the sliced vegetables and bake for 20 mins or until chicken is cooked.
Sprinkle with the chopped fresh herbs to serve
This was really delicious and although not really a pizza the flavours are just so good. Feel free to change the topping to suit your taste. This recipe was adapted from Slimming World's new Free and Easy book.

5 Minute Games for Toddlers - Paint Stamping
I thought I'd share a few more games for toddlers that only take a few minutes to set up and give anything from minutes to hours of pleasure. It is a little messy, it's paint stamping.

Bear loved the Noahs Ark toy at Tots and paired all the animals. He picked up two giraffes and said "Mummy" "Daddy" then touched then together and made kissing noises. |
We only had Bear for two days last week because his Grandad came to visit from West Wales for a few days. Bear was so excited but he just slept and slept. We were not sure if he had a bug but seemed OK otherwise. Bear didn't nap with us so we had lots of time for drawing and stories. The weather was freezing so we only went out to Tots and shopping.
Bear is fascinated with pretending to crash, he loves to pretend to fall off his bike and then we have to go and pick him up and kiss it better. He also had a bad knee, just a little red mark but it must have hurt because he mentioned it lots. He wanted a plaster so I put one on. It must have fallen off, he found it and stuck it on his knee over his jeans. Haha made us laugh.
I love his imagination.

Bear loved his red pen, looks like Humpty and Jack and Jill had a serious accident! |

#MySundayPhoto Number 7
#MySundayPhoto Number 7 is of Bear playing with a Noah's Ark and the animals at Tots Club. He took the animals out and noticed there were more than one of each so put them into pairs.
He picked up two giraffes and said;
"Mummy" "Daddy"
Then he put the giraffes together and made kissing noises. So wonderful.
I'm loving the terrible twos.

Thoughts on Saturday - Gary Lineker and Shannon Matthews
Thoughts on Saturday - Gary Lineker and Shannon Matthews
It is almost impossible to avoid Trump and Brexit. I could fill a book with my thoughts on that but to save us all from that I won't. I will admit it has been hard to find anything else. The NHS has dominated the news too but I wrote about that a few weeks ago.Wednesday, 8 February 2017

Slimming World Weigh In #5 and Best Recipe Of The Week
I was supposed to be going out with friends on Friday for a meal but due to the bad weather we had to cancel last minute. My first thought was to order a takeaway. We didn't. We cooked chicken noodles, so instead of lots of Syns the whole meal was about 2.5 Syns.
My Slimming World best recipe of the week is a delicious creamy mushroom sauce that is syn free.

Our Weekly Journal 6th Feb 2017
I rarely get to bath Bear, only if he's had a mishap with paints or we've been to the beach. He just loves it. All except having his hair washed. This week he put a handful of water on his head
"Hair washed" He smiled "no water Nanny"
He looked hopeful but I still had to wash and rinse his hair. He hates it so much. Afterwards I wrap him in a warm towel and I carry him in my arms like a baby. He loves this bit and enjoys sitting wrapped in a towel until he's nice and dry.

#MySundayPhoto Number 6
#MySundayPhoto Number 6 is of Bears feet. I love babies feet. As a Granny I rarely get to bath Bear. He loves water and stays in until his skin is wrinkled.
The only sad side is he hates having his hair washed. We've have tried everything, and so has he. He got a handful of water and rubbed it on his head.
"Hair washed" he beamed "no water, Nanny"
I still had to wash it and he was sad.
A warm towel and a huge cwtch and we were friends again. Gosh I love his feet.

Mum home schools her kids - by letting them play computer games 7 hours a day
Katie Pybus insists her three children.......who have never learnt the alphabet.....
Amongst all the doom and gloom of Trump and Brexit this was a headline on social media that caught my eye. Apparently a mother home schooled her children by letting them play video games all day. My first thought on looking at the picture underneath the headline was that they looked happy enough and secondly, I bet they can read.
I delved a little further.
