Our Weekly Journal 15th May - Cardiff Bay and Shadows

We have had a really busy week because the sun has shone and we have been out and about. Grandad came for a little walk around the estate and Bear was fascinated by our shadows. in fact he has spent all week chasing his shadow or trying to run away from it.
We started the week at the local playground and football pitches. No-one else was around, just a man on a tractor cutting the grass, so Bear rode his bike around the tarmac basketball court. It was perfect as I was alone and he couldn't escape and get too far away.

The fenced off basket ball court was a great place for Bear to ride his bike and I didn't have to worry that he would go too far.

I took his bike and a football so after a ride around the basket ball court we had a ride along a pathway. At the top the lane has been closed to traffic while they build a new housing estate. It does mean a long detour for many commuters but it also makes safe bike riding for toddlers. We explored further than we have been before, going down a lane and through a fenced car park. Bear loved it as it was full of slopes that he could freewheel and make me run to keep up.

and he's off........

We returned back the way we came and had a quick game of football it quickly deteriorated into Bear collecting the cut grass and throwing it at me.

Throwing grass is great fun when you are two

Then on Wednesday we took two buses and visited Cardiff Bay. We have been before but only to visit Techniquest, this time we explored a different part of the Bay and only got to see a small part even though we were there ages. We stopped for ice cream as it was such a glorious day.

"So hot!" said Bear, with every lick of his ice cream.

He made such a mess. I thought I'd wait until he finished before fussing about cleaning him up. A lady at a table next to ours offered Bear a tissue for his hands, he took it, blew his nose and gave it back. It still makes me laugh when I think about it now.

We have had a great week, I love the warm weather and the sunshine and am really looking forward to the summer when Grandad will be back on his feet and joining in the fun.
