Slimming World weigh in #3 and Best Recipe Of The Week
This week I have only had one meal out. That was lunch at Jamie Olivers and I chose the Classic Super Food salad. Most of the meals looked like they would be drenched in oil and the only other option was chicken, served with chips or Caeser salad but I suspected the dressing would be creamy. My salad was delicious, I added grilled chicken and removed the skin so that was free. When I neared the end of the meal there was some olive oil so I left the veg and beans that were in it. I think I am slowly getting to grips with the detail of Slimming World but when I got home and checked the Syns it came out at a massive 15, for a salad! I realise now that the half an avocado is 7 syns, I would have left it if I had known. I did leave a lot but I am still adding the 15.
How Did I Do This Week?
I lost another 1.5lb and my waist stayed the same. Although I am really pleased that I lost again, I am going through my food diary to check I haven't made any mistakes as I was very good this week, and stayed under my syns for the week (70) and the Slimmers World website says I should expect between 2 and 3lb a week at the start, if I am good. In total I have lost just over half a stone, and got my first badge whoopee!
Onto the rest of the week and my Best Recipe Of The Week. This week it has to be a curry which was written on the tub of spice and we just adapted it to make it Slimming World friendly but first what I ate this week;
Breakfast
Boiled eggs
Fruit
Yoghurt fat free (1/2 Syn)
30g porridge oats with 100ml semi- skimmed milk (HEXa and HEXb)
Lunch
Cod, new potatoes and tomatoes
Sausage, Cous Cous (6 Syns for the sausage)
Sea Bass, new potatoes, broccoli
Jamies salad (15 Syns)
Cod, Mango Salad, Broccoli and Potatoes
Bacon Sandwich (Hex b and 7 Syns) Fruit for dessert.
Slow Cooked Beef and roasted veg
Dinner
Pork, Potatoes with peppers
Pilchards, Shredded veg, yoghurt, asparagus
Chicken, noodles, vegetables
Chicken, chips, salad
Prawns and lemon dip, Curry and bubble & squeak
Slow cooked beef, Roasted root veg with fennel
Slow cooked beef, with noodles and stir fry veg
I have also had a couple of glasses of red wine, measured and a few gin and diet lemonades. Imagine my delight to see that Gordons Gin is only 2.5 Syns per 25ml rather than the standard 3 Syns for other brands. I am happy with that as Gordons is my favourite. I eat fruit as a snack and have five Brazil nuts when I haven't eaten my Hex b allowance. I do keep forgetting to have my Hex a (for calcium) but I am eating no fat Greek Yoghurt so I think that's Ok.
Total Syns this week = 68 Syns
Total Weight lost = 8lb
Just a thought, 8lb. Thats the size of a baby. That's a lot of fat to lose! I'm happy.
Best Recipe Of The Week - Chicken Tikka Curry
Serves 4
Prep Time 10 mins Cooking Time 35 mins
Ingredients
400g diced free range chicken breast
200g (1/2 tin) chopped tomatoes
1 medium onion sliced
2 cloves garlic crushed
2 tbsp Tikka Curry Powder
100ml fat free Greek Style Yoghurt
100ml water
Fry Light
Handful of Fresh Coriander chopped to garnish
Basmati Rice to serve. I had it with Bubble & Squeak
Method
Put the onions and garlic in a microwavable dish, spray with fry light and microwave on high for 5 minutes or until soft. Transfer to a non stick frying pan. Fry for a minute.
Stir in the curry powder and chicken and brown for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the tomatoes and 100ml water. Simmer until sauce is thickened and chicken cooked through.
Remove from heat and stir in the yoghurt, season and garnish with coriander. Serve hot.
So three weeks in and I quite fancy something sweet, a low syn dessert or cake would be nice. Does anyone have any good recipes?
