Steinbeck and Shaw* Cardiff is a bar and club located right in the heart of Cardiff City Centre on Greyfriars Road. It's website promises
"a first class and personal service direct to your private table"
so when I was invited, along with four other South Wales bloggers to try their new menu, we jumped at the chance.
We all found the venue easily, directly opposite the New Theatre, ideal for pre or post theatre drinks, and chose our table near the entrance as it was a beautiful evening. There are also plenty of tables outside. If you like the quirky you can always sit in the Waltzer. There are lots of little details that make this unique such as the menu's are all inside original LP (vinyl) covers.
We were trying the new cocktail and food menu and were brought five different cocktails to try. They also made a couple of mocktails and milkshakes for the drivers.
We all had a taste of each and we all had different favourites. I love cocktails and really liked them except maybe the Passion Wagon, the cocktail in the stripy cup. It looked like a milkshake and tasted fine but I like ice, fruit and umbrella's in my cocktails! I loved the way the cocktails were all presented differently but where was my umbrella?

While we were trying all the delicious cocktails our food arrived. It was served in paper lined buckets on a wooden tray. It looked amazing.
I loved everything. Nothing was too spicy and although most was fried it wasn't greasy. The chips were just how chips should be. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
We also had taco's with pulled pork and taco's with cheese and chilli. I heard the chilli was hot but I was full and didn't try it. They also serve burgers and hotdogs.

We have a fantastic blogging community in South Wales and we meet up regularly for evenings out or in the daytime with the children for coffee and play. I really enjoyed Steinbeck and Shaw and we had a fantastic evening. The drinks were fun, the food fantastic and the service exactly as they promised first class and personal direct to our table.
All drinks are 50% off from 5 - 10 every evening, they also serve craft beers and soft drinks. The new menu should be up on the Steinbeck and Shaw website soon.
