LEGO Safari Animals at Cardiff Bay - A Toddler Explores

It was a freezing cold day in Cardiff on Tuesday, but the sun was shining so we headed down to Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay to see the LEGO Great Brick Safari. It's a free display of wild animals made entirely from LEGO bricks. Some have half a million or more bricks  (yep some have 600,000+), and took hours to build. The display is there throughout half term until Sunday 25th February and definitely worth a visit.
So for those of you who cannot get to Cardiff to see the display here are a few photos.

Not sure which is the biggest monkey! Bear or the gorilla.

The lion and cub were a great hit with the children and adults alike, as it was the only animal that they could get really close to and actually touch. Without prompting, Bear just sat himself down next to the cub.
The models are very well made and even with lots of children about the lion remained intact. What I liked was that there was no-one telling them not to touch, a fantastic display that is well worth a visit. We combined it with lunch at Bills but a trip to Techniquest would make the perfect day out.

My favourite was the gorilla, it reminded me of Guy from London Zoo (I think you have to be a certain age to know of him, he was a famous ape in the 60s and 70s).

Bears favourite? Not the crocodile or the lion. No, it was the ostrich, that's toddlers for you, totally unpredictable.
