The Christmas Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Jenni over at Chilling With Lucas to answer some Christmas related questions for 'The Christmas Tag', so here we go...

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Oh I love all Christmas films. See what I did there? Anyway it has to be Miracle on 34th Street or It's a Wonderful World.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes  especially when I was young. I grew up in Hertfordshire, and snow is much more frequent there than here in wet, warm Cardiff. In fact according to the Met Office there wasn't a white Christmas in Cardiff between 1960 and 1990!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

We spend it at home. Both our families live in Hertfordshire and so it would mean travelling and staying over. I was a nurse for 34 years so had to work shifts over the holidays so that ruled out staying away.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Easy, Fairytale of New York by Kirsty Macoll and the Pogues

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No! Absolutely No! How can you? Father Christmas doesn't deliver until Christmas Day xx

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Haha! No! Rudolf, Donner, Blitzen, Prancer.......

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

Family Christmas is delayed until Boxing Day this year for all the right reasons. Our children are all grown up, have their own families and homes and so we are gathering on Boxing day. I look forward to the meal, as it's the best meal ever, the silly jokes in the crackers and lots of silly party games. Also it will be the first year that Bear really understands Christmas. I can't wait to see his face opening his presents.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Indoor fake, outside real.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

Without a doubt Christmas Lunch.

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Giving, definitely. Receiving presents is great too but is best when you are a child. The joy of Christmas morning and opening the presents and seeing what you have is never the same in adulthood, now I get pleasure in seeing others open theirs. Don't get me wrong, I love presents too!

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

Everything my children have ever given me, I know that sounds cheesy but it's true. Whether it's a handmade gift or something more expensive it is always chosen just for me and always something I love.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I love being at home but if I did have it somewhere else then somewhere sunny and hot and totally waited on hand and foot.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Nah, just wrap it up, stick a bow, a label and some twirly ribbon on and hey presto! Present. I lazily traditionally wrap all the presents Christmas Eve after a glass or two of something alcoholic, they are lucky that it's wrapped at all.

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Going back many years ago my Nan not understanding that a vegetarian doesn't eat turkey even if it is Christmas. Bless her.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I do not remember. Probably older children telling me, somewhere in the back of my mind I remember being told at school but not sure if I already knew.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Having an excuse to all get together, eat too much, drink too much, laugh too much and just have fun.

Hope you enjoyed The Christmas Tag!
