7 Ways to Wow Your Partner On Valentines Day

OK so you only met last week and don't want to go over the top, or you've been married 40 years and done it all. If you are a hopeless romantic then this is for you. Male, female, old or young. 7 top tips to show how much you love them..

1. Remember!

You'll get no thanks for a thousand roses at 6pm. It looks like you've forgotten. So start the day well. Start the day with a card. No it's not all consumerism and hype! It's romance. If you don't want to buy a card for the above reasons then make one!

2. Cook a Meal

This is best if you can't cook and your other half does all the cooking. They will know that, so even a little effort will impress.

If you really can't cook then try these ideas

a) cook breakfast. Use a cutter to make bread/toast hearts. A boiled egg in a romantic egg cup wow!
b) buy a meal deal and follow the instructions. Lay the table, light candles and sprinkle heart confetti or buy heart shaped napkins.
c) order a take away
d) book a table and go out for a meal

3. Leave Notes

post it note with i love you written on it

If you live together then just leave post it notes around the house. First one in their card (see number one, you must have a card!) It will say something like Love you and a heart and 2 kisses.
Then on the breakfast tray, or in the fridge or on the shower door. Anywhere they are likely to go. Each a little bit more personal, no not rude! Naughty! Sign them with your pet name, or call them by theirs. Or mention places you've been, or have planned to go.

Not living together? Then text. Short texts throughout the day. Just a couple of words. Can't wait to see you. Friday seems like forever. Last Wednesday/Tuesday, whatever, was the best.

4. Do Something They Like

You've got all day so try to do something they like, especially if it's something you're not so keen on. They'll love you for it as long as you don't huff and puff and definitely don't say "is it nearly over?" "can we go now?"

They like movies? Then go to the cinema or stay in with a bottle of your favourite tipple and watch a film.
They like sport? Then watch, attend or buy something sporty.

5. Go Dancing

Everyone likes to dance. He doesn't? She hates it? Then go clubbing, to a concert, to the pub with live music. Just have some music in your day. Got children and can't go out, then put on some music and all have a dance. You'll feel great

6. People Watch

Go somewhere you can watch others. Have a coffee, a meal anything but you must put away your phones and just watch. Watching each other is OK too. Been together a long time and think this is boring then make up names for the people you are watching.

Mr & Mrs Smith (too bland to give real names to)
Cat Woman (her hair looks like she's in the musical cats)
Mr Pastry (you need to be very old for this one)

7. Spend Time Together

Whatever your budget anyone can do this. Book a holiday, a room, just 5 minute together. Talk about each other, your plans, your future (even if it is only when your next date is). Don't talk about the wonderful things other people are doing, this is about you.

What do you have planned for Valentines day?

  1. Not really big fans of Valentines here but will probably do a steak dinner and get a nice chocolate pudding.
I'd love an early night but I actually mean to sleep as I'm shattered all the time, hubby will have other ideas

  4. Great simple tips and very doable 👌 I cook my husband's favorite dishes every year . We decided to donate my roses bouquet amount to any organization every year too. That's makes both happy . We love to spend time together !

    1. What a fantastic thing to do. I do think that Valentines is very commercial, but then every holiday/celebration is now, so there is always something to do that's affordable and personal.

  5. We don't celebrate valentines day either but you don't need an excuse to spend time together and do these things

  7. I am also not into Valentines Day but we always exchange cards and a small gift. Unfortunately Valentines is sandwiched between my husband's birthday (10th Feb) and my daughter's birthday (20th Feb) so it tends to be forgotten.

    1. Us too! I have a son's birthday on the 18th and daughters on the 26th. Valentines was pushed to the back but we always exchange cards and I just love flowers! I do not mind if they are a few daffs from a supermarket :-)

  9. You can definitely see your skills in the work you write.

The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who aren't afraid to say how they believe.

    Always follow your heart.
