Sisterhood of the World Bloggers

This is my first nomination! Thankyou! I was really happy to be nominated by fivelittledoves to join the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers link up. I stumbled upon her blog one day and read one of her letters to her children, then read them all! Laura writes from the heart so that means lots of laughter (The Out-takes) and lots of tears (Letters to Joseph). So get a tissue and a cup of tea and check out her blog.
I thought this would be easy, just answer 10 questions. Well I got stuck on number 1 and number 8. Too many to chose from, so this has taken me ages and I haven't even started thinking of my questions yet.

This is a great way to find other blogs and get to know a little about the person behind them.
Each blogger puts together ten questions and nominates 7 others to answer and carry it forward.
Here are the rules;

•Thank the blogger who gave you the award and link back to their blog
•Answer the 10 questions given to you
•Nominate 7 bloggers for the award
•Write 10 questions for your nominees to answer
•Display the award on your blog or post
So here are my answers to fivelittledoves questions;

1. Which song would you choose as the soundtrack to your life?

Baba O'Riley by The Who.

I've always thought it reflected my teenage years. I got married at 18 and hitch hiked across Europe to Greece where we lived for about a year. Oh and it mentions my name.

2. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Take lots of pictures and don't lose them!

Don't stop travelling and if you do settle down have children straight away. Then you'll have grandchildren whilst you're still young and they are magic.

Work isn't as important as family, spend time with them. Write a diary of what your children say and what they do. In the future you can publish it as a "blog"

Talk to your Nan about her life in Ireland and how she came to London. Visit your mum lots.

Someone in the future will suggest you buy shares in Pfizer, you will have no idea what shares are or who Pfizer is. Just buy them. (Pfizer launched Viagra about a year after I was told to buy them)

3. How did you come up with the name of your blog?

I toyed with the idea of writing a blog for about 2 years on and off. I didn't really know what I wanted to write about, everything I suppose. Crafts, days out, holidays, mutterings. I couldn't think of a name, mostly I think because I hadn't decided what my blog would be about.

When my grandson was born I decided that I wanted it to be about him and me. I started looking after him in July when his mum went back to work and one day I just thought he's my little Bear and I'm the Granny in the cardigan. Teddy Bears and Cardigans was born.

4. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Is Gin a food? Gin then. If it has to be something else it would have to be potatoes. I could then make gin with any left over.

5. If you could choose to have any talent, what would it be?

To be able to sing. I love singing but I am tone deaf and totally tuneless.

6. What do you miss most about your life pre-children?

Being young! My children are grown up so I've had the fun of holidays just the two of us, going out without having to make plans weeks in advance etc so I miss being young most.

7. Will you still be blogging ten years from now?

Definitely! I only started a few months ago but just love putting things down on paper, if I had time I'd have another blog about my family tree, it's my vice.

8. Who is your favourite literary character and why?

This is really hard. Just as I think of one character another pops into my head. So I'll say Huckleberry Finn. I like a rebel with  a heart. He is a poor white boy, beaten by his father, brought up in the deep south where slavery is common place but he helps a slave run away because he feels that's the right thing to do. He doesn't tell on him and they have an adventure on the river.

9. What do you find hardest about being a parent?

Worry. There's always something to worry about. Usually something that you can't do anything about. Like when they are ill, or if they go away, or catch a bus alone, or travel abroad, or take exams, or change school, or get married, start a new job, quit their job, have children.....oh it just goes on and on

10. Who do you most admire?

My Mum. I know this is a cliche but she had four children, no mod cons like dishwashers and tumble dryers. She had no help from my dad because men didn't help then, he was too tired from "working" all day. She worked part time to fit in around our schooling. We were well fed, well dressed and loved. She was the cleverest person I know. She knew about everything. When I first started learning French at school she'd say things like "ahh that is from the irregular verb 'être'..... " How did she know that? Other mums didn't!

I nominate

Makeup-Pixi3
Z's mam
Odd Sock's and Lollipops
A Slice of My Life..Wales
Fun As A Gran
All About A Mini Norris
The Adultier Adult

Here are my questions for you;

1. Have you ever met anyone famous? If so how and who? If not, who would you most like to meet?
2. What's your earliest memory?
3. Why did you start blogging?
4. What is your favourite, and least favourite thing about blogging?
5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
6. What's the craziest thing you have done in your life so far?
7. What's your most treasured possession?
8. If a book was written about your life what genre would it be?
